Climate Change Chart of Battambang, Cambodia

Overview of climate changes

Changes in sunshine duration

Averaged across calendar months, mean daily sunshine duration shows a difference of -0.52 hours/day in the more recent period. This unweighted summary of monthly means does not mean every month changed by the same amount, nor does it represent a day-weighted annual average. The largest monthly decrease was in July, with a difference of -1.71 hours/day in mean daily sunshine duration. In March, the largest monthly increase was a difference of +0.02 hours/day; together, these contrasts show that monthly differences were not uniform.

Temperature changes

Averaged across calendar months, monthly mean temperature shows a difference of +1.19 °C in the more recent period; this unweighted mean summarizes the monthly averages rather than a day-weighted annual value, and it does not imply the same change in every month. The largest monthly increase was in March, with a difference of +1.89 °C compared with the earlier reference period. These are monthly mean temperatures, not daytime maximum temperatures, and this single-month contrast does not establish a continuous trend.

Changes in rainfall

Averaged across calendar months, mean daily rainfall shows a difference of +0.62 mm/day in the more recent period. This is an unweighted summary of monthly mean daily amounts, not a day-weighted annual average or a monthly rainfall total, and it does not describe the change in every month. The largest monthly increase was in July, where mean daily rainfall had a difference of +1.61 mm/day. By contrast, March had the largest monthly decrease, a difference of -0.18 mm/day; these monthly comparisons describe daily means, not accumulated monthly totals.
